Stephen N. (Steve) Smith was born in Hillsboro, Texas on June 2, 1947.  Steve graduated from Hillsboro High School, and graduated with a business degree from Texas Christian University in 1970.  He graduated from St.Mary s University Law School in 1972, and that same year married Rosemary Smith, a native of San Antonio.  Steve and Rosemary have made Hillsboro their home since 1973.

Steve joined the firm of Martin, Martin & Showers in 1974, the predecessor to the current firm, where he has been a partner for over 28 years.  Steve has been active in bar related activities throughout his career, serving as Hill County Bar President, member of the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee, member of the  Local Bar Services Committee of the State Bar, and Director of the State Bar of Texas.  He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association and is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Steve has also been  active in his community, serving on numerous City of Hillsboro committees  and is currently the chairman of the Hillsboro Main Street Board.  He also served as a member of the Hillsboro Sesquicentennial Committee and is a past president of the Hillsboro Heritage League.  Steve and Rosemary are active members in the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro where he is an elder and currently serves as a trustee.  Steve also is active in Kairos Prison Ministry and is a member of the Kairos Advisory Council at the Boyd Unit in Teague, Texas.

Steve and Rosemary have 2 children, Allison Sykes and Andrew Smith.  Rosemary is the marketing director at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.

Practice Emphasis: Family Law; Real Estate, Probate and Estate Planning, and General Litigation.  Steve has been active in mediating civil litigation and family law cases since 1995.
